3 Books

Gian Kumar was born into a traditional Hindu family, in Burma (present-day Myanmar). From childhood, his life held paradoxes which he struggled to understand. While he was educated at a Christian boarding school which observed strict religious practices, these were diametrically opposed to the Hindu traditions and customs which were the norm when he went home for the holidays.

A thinker by nature, the inherent confusion and dogmas underlying religion, gradually impelled him towards spirituality.

Today, he is deeply grateful for a journey filled with opportunities to learn about existential riddles such as: Who am I? What is my purpose in Life? Is God an illusion? Gian hopes to share his own experiential learnings with others through the medium of his books.

Gian Kumar Interview – Know Thyself, Think from the heart & The Ultimate Reality Books

Nikhil Narkhede

Let us know about Mr. Gian Kumar in his own words. My name is Gian Kumar born in Myanmar currently residing in New Delhi, India. I am a graduate in B. Com (Hons) from Shri Ram College Of Commerce, New Delhi. I started my own business establishing exports and retail stores in Delhi dealing in apparels. This fortunately achieved great results in branding my company as one of the top most in my city. I have recently taken retirement from my business so that I may devote full time to my writing on the subject that I am so passionate about.

What inspired you to start writing?

Since childhood I have always been an avid reader of all sorts of books always wanting to know out of the ordinary in life. I belong to a strict religious family following rigid Hindu rituals but by nature always been a rebel. This made me question the existence of God and purpose of my life in the direction I was going. My search began and through science and spirituality, I discovered all answers to the questions that were bothering me.

What did you like to read when you were a boy?

Even though as a boy, I was more prone to reading crime and thrillers, my passion towards spirituality intensified as I began to learn more about this subject.

How much research do you do before writing the book?

My research on the subject of spirituality commenced nearly twenty years back starting with Osho as my first mentor. Being a science student in school, I combined both spirituality and science to discover the logic behind God and the Devil. After having attained enough knowledge on this subject, I pursued my passion spreading my message across through books. There was so much to offer that I wrote three books in one go.

What is the greatest challenge in writing a book?

The greatest challenge, besides expressing all those thoughts into words, I faced was when I had to complement both science and spirituality as one. Secondly, when you are write something different, which you do not commonly come across being somewhat rebellious, you know that you may not receive immediate acknowledgement.

What motivated you to write the books “Know Thyself, Think from the heart & The Ultimate Reality”?

My three books are based upon…Know Thyself on Self-Knowledge (Brahma) Think from the Heart…(Preserver….in the form of Krishna as awareness) and The Ultimate Reality ( Shiva as the liberator).

Self-knowledge, Spiritual awareness and how to awaken from the ignorance of living in anxiety, suffering and its liberation is what motivated me to spread my contemporary message, which I am continuing to do so by writing more books.

Can you tell us more about your latest books?

I am in the process of completing three more books irrespective of whether I establish myself as an author or not, so that my passion continues anyways.

How did you come up with the idea of writing three books of self help genre?

The idea of well-being in totality- where you consider physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual fulfilment all as one.

How much time do you dedicate to writing on a daily basis?

2-4 hours daily.

What words of wisdom would you like to give to aspiring writers?

People may not acknowledge you as a writer, but no one can stop you as long as you have that passion within. All you should do is to write and continue to write, as and when you can for no one can stop you but yourself.
