A Game For Heroes is set during the second World War. It is a story which tells of the heroics of a battle-hardened soldier, who is willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for his country and for the people that he loves. After a long and bloody battle fought between the Axis and the Allied forces, the second World War is coming to an end. Both sides have suffered a large number of casualties. The Channel Islands is the last bastion of the German resistance at the end of a lengthy and tiring war. Berlin is about to be captured by the Allied forces, all that needs to be done is for them to somehow take down St Pierre, which is the toughest mission in the war. It has a reputation amongst the Allied forces as being impregnable. Breaking down this fortress requires someone special. This is where the SS commandant comes in. He is called a madman by some and others call him a wartime genius but everyone who knows him acknowledges that he is a hero. The suicidal mission to take down the fortress will to be his final stand. As the book progresses, it shows how the commandant takes on the mission to break down the indestructible fortress. It describes how he maneuvers through every difficult situation as he tries to complete his mission. The love for his country and his woman is what compels him to move forward and try to complete this suicide mission. Will he be able to succeed or will St Pierre live up to its reputation of being indestructible? A Game For Heroes is a thrilling book with many subtle twists in the plot. It was published by Harper in 2013. The book is written in English and is available in paperback.
