Aju Mukhopadhyay is a bilingual poet, critic, essaylist, biographer, feature and fiction writer. He has written 12 books in English and 12 in Bangla. He has five books of poems published in English besides two in Bangla; three books of short stories in Bangla and one in English besides a novel in English. Among his works essays on Sri Aurobindo and the Mother deserve special mention. He has written their biographies in English and Bangla. His forthcoming book is titled Sri Aurobindo: The Yogi of Divine Life. He was awarded Certificate of Competence as a Published Writer by the Writers Bureau, Manchester, UK; Best Poet of the Year 2003 by the Poets International, Bangalore, India; and 2007 Editor's Choice Published Poet Award by the International Library of Poetry, USA. His poems are sometimes displayed at the top or among the first few in some websites like www.asianamericanpoetry.com and www.poetsindia.com He is a member of the Research Board of Advisors of the American Order of Merit. Aju Mukhopadhyay's The Moments of life is a compilation of 26 short stories. The author's deep understanding of human nature and emotion comes across through the different situations that he explores in each of the stories.
Set in different parts of India, mostly in Bengal and sometimes in the South, the stories focus on varied subjects drawn from the everyday life of the common man.
