Born in Yorkshire, England, Geoff took to his heels early on in search of the miraculous, taking a break from a degree in biochemistry. The lure of the unknown took him to Kabul, Kathmandu and lamu in the days before the overland companies began digging up the dirt along the tracks of Africa.
In 1977, he wrote his first guide for lonely planet Africa on the cheap. He has also written south America on a shoestring, and guides to korea, Taiwan and east Africa, and has co-authored guides to India, Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei and Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia.
