The story 'Alice in Wonderland' is written by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (Lewis Carroll). He was born on the 27th of January, in the year 1832. He was the third child of his parents and was the eldest son. His parents, Mr. Reverend Charles Dodgson and Mrs. Frances Lutwidge, had eleven children in all. They had a big family to feed and take care of. Hence Charles, as the other children, was denied of the care and love from his parents. As a result, he started stammering and stuttering. This went on with him all through his life. He consulted many speech therapists but it was of no use. Despite this problem, Charles liked forming new words and was very fond of languages. Charles studied in the Rugby school for four years and the succeeding year joined the Christ Church at Oxford. He was a good student and had a good command on Mathematics. After two days of his joining the Church, his mother left for her heavenly abode. So, his mother's sister Lucy Lutwidge came to their house to take care of the family and soon she was loved by all. Charles got his first degree in Maths and began teaching the same. He enjoyed his work and also gained confidence. He later on started giving sermons as well. He was at that time in service of the Christ Church. He was to keep on teaching all his life and remain a bachelor all through. As time passed, he became the Head of the Mathematics Department. In 1856, Charles was gifted with a camera by his uncle and this became his new hobby.
