Chitralekha Choudhuri spent all of her school years outside India. Her father worked in the Indian Foreign Service and she studied at various International Schools and learnt French and Spanish, besides English. Returning to India, she graduated in English Honours and then did her Bachelor of Education, both from Loreto College, Calcutta, before going on to complete her Masters in English from Calcutta University.
Chitralekha taught English and History at the senior school level for over 14 years. She has one son, a lawyer, who works in London and her husband is a retired executive. Currently based in Kolkata, Chitralekha is a full time writer of novels and short stories.
