Sam and Hayden have been friends forever. One day at a party they have a fight and fall out with each other. Next day morning Sam discovers that Hayden has committed suicide. He leaves a note for Sam which says 'Listen and you will understand.' The note also had a playlist of songs.
Sam is heartbroken over losing his best friend and wants to decode the mystery behind his sudden suicide. A mysterious girlfriend also appears to his amazement. It seems that Hayden was not all that Sam thought he was. He was, in fact, two persons. Through attempting to understand Hayden, Sam learns a lot more about himself. He has to listen to all the songs on the playlist to find the real Hayden and the clues to what drove him to end his life.
The book is a coming-of-age story with all its attendant angst over adjusting to the world and leaving the childhood behind. It is a very relatable debut by first time author Michelle Falkoff. It is all about friendships that we sometime leave behind in a rush to get ahead in life.
