A A Khan

IGP A. A. Khan was both the bane of terrorists and gangsters and the hero of his devoted ATS team. A gun-toting police chief who led from the front, he was also the delight of pun-happy reporters who nicknamed him `Ack-Ack' Khan.

His ability to act at moment's notice and unwillingness to let red-tape or political games delay or deter him, made him both unforgettable and `transferable' in the unwritten history of the Indian Police Force. To sum up in his own words, "I work to please my conscience, not my bosses."
