Montague Rhodes (M. R.) James was a British author widely considered to be one of the greatest writers of supernatural stories of all time, and one who is most cited as an influence by later writers. He was also a translator, an antiquarian, a medievalist scholar and provost, first of King’s College, Cambridge, and then of Eton College. During his time at Cambridge, M. R. James served as director of the Fitzwilliam Museum. M. R. James’ published work includes Ghost Stories of an AntiquaryA Warning to the Curious and Other Ghost Stories and A Thin Ghost and Others.
