Interviews

Interview with Kevin Abdulrahman

When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?

I am first a motivational speaker. Then a public speaking coach to world leaders. The result of which has me meeting with, rubbing shoulders and consulting with some of the top players across a multitude of sectors around the world. Writing really comes an inspirational outcome of the above.

What is your writing process?

I wish I could tell you that I have a routine or writing habit attributed to some of the greatest of writers. My writing style is very sporadic and, in the moment. In fact, most of my writing usually takes place as a result of an interaction or an event.

It used to be me writing on scraps of paper. Today, I have hundreds of notes open on my phone for jotting down my thoughts. The computer is really a place where I put my writing together and begin the editing process.

What are your five favorite books, and why?

a. The Four Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss. I admire Tim. Everything he does, and the way he distils the information in a way that effective for anyone to implement. A huge fan of his books and podcast.

b. The One Thing by Gary Keller. This book's entire mission is drum in you that to achieve great results, you have to do something that is counterintuitive. To do the one thing, from which every other thing becomes easier to do, less important or event irrelevant. Must read.

c. It's Not How Good You Are, It's How Good You Want To Be by Paul Arden. A great read packed with golden nuggets for success. Grab yourself a coffee and this book. Get to it.

d. The 50th Law by 50 Cent and Robert Greene. I'm a fan of 50 cent's music. This book will enlighten you about the fearless attitude and mindset required to achieve greatness.

e. Blink by Malcolm Gladwell. I just love Malcolm's writing style with the knowledge he presents the reader. Powerful and priceless.

What would you say is the difference between good and great?

Good is doing the bare minimum. People who are good are just happy with hitting the mark. Those who are great at what they do, push the mark. They push to the max. They push until they can push no more, and then, they push some more.

This applies to every aspect of life, from school results, traveling the world, starting businesses, body building, succeeding in politics, setting up charitable organizations, and beyond.

What inspires you to get out of bed each day?

I’m inspired when I see/hear how different people from all walks of life do incredible things. Young or old, impoverished or wealthy, talented or resourceful, there is so much that you can pull your inspiration from.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

What would you dare to do, if failure wasn’t an option?

Describe your desk

Any funky coffee house.

What would you say are characteristics for success?

Always be learning. Greatness comes from having an open mind.

Perseverance. Not knowing when to give up. Not knowing how to give up.

Discipline. Doing what you have to do. Day in, day out. Especially when you don't feel like doing it.

You have many inspirational quotes. What would be one you would like to leave the readers with?

No one needs to give you permission to be great. You hold that authority.

How would you like to be remembered?

Having done my duty and helped inspire people to be the best that they could be. The goal is to reach 1 Billion Lives, to help them Get Inspired, Get Informed & Get Going!

Last piece of advice?

The Quality Of Your Results Is A Direct Reflection Of The Quality Of Your Mind.
