Georges Ifrah

Georges Ifrah (1947, 2019) is a French author and historian of mathematics, especially numerals. He was formerly a teacher of mathematics. Ggg His exhaustive work, From One to Zero: A Universal History of Numbers (1985, 1994) was translated into multiple languages, became an international bestseller, was included in American Scientist's list of "100 or so Books that shaped a Century of Science", referring to the 20th century.

He had a great popular success for his research work and comprehensive work. He died in Paris in November 1st 2019.
